Strange Brew vs Antics at Electric Picnic
SATURDAY 30TH 11-3am in the Fossett’s Circus Tent
"Antics teams up with one of the biggest Indie Nights in Galway to offer up a wonderful combination of Dj’s who live and breathe great music and even better sessions.
Now approaching its 300th night, Strange Brew is generally considered to be pretty down right awesome!!
Held every Thursday in The Roisin Dubh, it brings you Indie beats, alternative rock and good vibrations from the past, the present and the not too distant future!!
Battles to Tony Bennett to Modest Mouse to Why?,
Toots to Pixies, Hot Chip to Dan Deacon and back again. Pretty much.
Anything can happen in this friendly rivalry between Dublin and Galway!!"

Doug Stanhope confirmed for September Laughter Lounge
Doug is probably best known in Ireland for his 2006 appearance at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival where he told his lairy, late-night crowd, that Irish men sleep with children, because - as the headline to the following day's Irish Daily Star put it (misreportedly) - "Irish women are too ugly to rape! Comic booed after shocking festival jibe." The Star getting it all wrong, imagine.
Stanhope has been described as a free-thinking nihilist, a vulgar miseriblist, a self-indulgent, drunken washout and a deviant, misanthropic Charles Kuralt. His material ranges from true-life graphic perversion to volatile social criticism. He's also a bit of a boozehound.
One of the greatest stand-ups alive, Stanhope, just announced one Edinburgh gig this year. It's almost worth stumping up the Ł7,349 to be his one-man audience for a one-off performance - a bloody-minded protest against the commercialisation of comedy. Of course you could just pay €20 to see him in Roisin Dubh on Wednesday 3rd September.
